We have long been concerned by the impact of our modern age on our

precious Highland natural heritage.

In order to reduce the environmental footprint of our business we have worked

hard to ensure that as much of the waste generated  on site as possible is

re-cycled or composted.  We have now had 16 solar panels installed on the

roof of our barn. These will supply The Byre with some of the electricity

which our visitors use.

In many ways the winter is the best time of year to see wildlife. Greater Spotted

Woodpeckers are feasting on peanuts in front of the Byre on a more of less daily basis.

They are hard to spot in summer. We saw a lovely big dog fox in Glen Loy this week,

not far from where we saw a white tailed eagle circling over us on Beinn Bhan.  Red

deer are also much easier to find at this time of  year as they come down off the tops

to seek shelter and food.
